Cecilia Thorell is a native of Gothenburg, Sweden. Her love of painting began at an early age, starting with watercolor and moving into oils in her early teens. This love took her to train at one of the most internationally prestigious art academies, The Florence Academy of Art. It was here that Cecilia honed her skills to draw and paint in the old-master tradition with techniques and a curriculum grounded in those of the 19thcentury European academies.
Currently a resident of Colorado Springs, CO, Cecilia is a professional painter who combines observation with traditional painting theory, finding inspiration in places, interiors and people. She specializes in portraiture as well as figural and still life paintings and works exclusively from life.
